I couldn't figure out any other way to get ahold of you(Benita) but I think this may be my best shoot at doing so. The story/speech you recently gave at the capitol brought nothing but memories to my heart. I myself am an undocumented immigrant. I've live in this country for the past 8 years. I currently attend college unlike many of my peers in this similar cituation that graduated as part of my class. There is something that drives me to continue fighting even as dark as my days may be at times. I REFUSE to give up. I walk on encandecent ashes with tears rolling down my cheaks that evaporate before collapsing into the ground but yet I still refuse to give up...I still walk even when this suffering taers my heart day by day. I too, refuse to give up...

But I am not the important one here. The only thing that differentiates me from the person who has spent countless hours behind a computer screen, writing letters in support of the DREAM Act, or the person who has called their Senators and Representatives 137 times in the past week, or the person who has emailed all of their friends to please contact their Congressional representatives, is that I have lost my anonymity. These are the true heroes of the DREAM Act, those who work behind screens and who gather to share their stories in small group settings— those who network via Facebook, or on Twitter, to make others aware of the importance of the DREAM. These are the people who truly deserve, but cannot get, the attention.” Benita Veliz writing for Red Brown and Blue [...]
